Our Story

First Baptist Church of Tyrone stands as a lasting testimony to God’s faithfulness, bearing witness to the gospel in Tyrone and the surrounding community for over a century. Rooted in the truth of the gospel and compelled by Christ’s command to make disciples, we exist to glorify God in all we do.

Our Purpose

We exist to be a gospel-driven church, committed to making and growing disciples through the faithful teaching and preaching of God’s Word. As we like to state it: We aim to make disciples who are rich in the word, loving each other well, and useful in the hands of the King as he builds his church for his glory.

Our Methods

Discipleship is built on Christ-centered relationships shaped by the Word of God. Every time we gather, our aim is not simply to gain knowledge, but to experience genuine heart transformation that leads to lasting change. And we don't walk this journey alone—we grow together. We believe that spiritual maturity happens in community, as we help one another grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. On Sundays, we sit under the verse-by-verse teaching of Scripture. On Wednesdays, we gather to go deeper in understanding. And in Home Groups, we live out the "one another" commands of Scripture in real, everyday life.

OUR CONVICTIONS

Word Dependent“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Christ Centered"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures" 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

God Fearing "The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man." Ecclesiastes 12:13

Self Aware"For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit" Titus 3:3-5

Others Focused“We proclaim him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.” Colossians 1:28

A People of PrayerOne thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4
