membership covenant

Having been saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ into His Family, and having followed in Believer's Baptism, I am now choosing to unite with First Baptist Church (FBC) Tyrone through this covenant. I accept the meaning of membership as defined in this covenant and understand the responsibilities and privileges that bind me to this church family in sanctification, servanthood, and service as the LORD empowers and leads me.

Philippians 2:1-2: "Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, then make my joy complete by being of one mind, having the same love, being united in spirit and purpose."

I) As a body of believers unified in God's Spirit, we will safeguard the unity of our church family by: leading a gentle and peaceable life; showing mercy, faith and righteousness to each other and our community.

Ephesians 4:1-6: "I, therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

II) As a body of believers, we will joyfully share the responsibility of our church family by: praying for, encouraging and supporting our members; giving of the financial resources God has provided; inviting others to participate in the life of our church; and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ as we go through life.

Matthew 28:19, 20: "Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

III) As a body of believers, we will steadfastly serve in the ministry of our church family by: enjoying personal time with the Lord daily; attending worship faithfully; serving the ministries into which the Holy Spirit leads; and utilizing the gifts and talents

God has given us for meaningful service.

1 Peter 4:10: "As each one has received a gift, minister to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."
